Headquarters of Hainan Airlines

In the headquarters of a large Chinese airline group, understanding of Buddhism initiates the form design to follow the gesture of two hands holding a Buddha pearl. The setback floors and the curved sunshade to satisfy the energy remands also reinforce the curvilinear volumetric expressions employed in the main building. The masonry employs horizontal window strip with sunscreen instead of glass curtain wall to reduce solar gain. A platform on the second level acts as a prominent entrance with its dramatic two-story-high colonnade. Bordered by attached colonnades, the skirt building reduces its solar gain as well as plants it roof for the same aim.
