Graduate School of Education, Peking University
The building consists of classroom, administration offices, a library and multi-function rooms. The prototype’s C-shaped plan derives from the traditional layout of the campus of Peking University. Simplified with modern architectural tongues, the 18m-high building still shows respect to its neighbors, who are built in 1920s’ and combined the Chinese and Western styles. With grey brick wall and dark grey tiles, the facades feature a plain palette of grey and white, concerning both old-time and current aesthetics. On each side of west facade, a copy of garble wall of traditional building in the campus emphasizes the respect and continuity for cultural context.
