National Library of China

Built on the initial stage of Reform and Open, it is the largest library in China, which holds a collection of more than 20,000,000 books, 36 reading halls and 3000 seats. The low-rise reading halls are situated around the high-rise book stack, to form three courtyards. Decorated with ponds, bridges and pavilions, they reflect the traditional manner of Chinese Garden. Blue glazed tiles on the roof and the light grey bricks make a sense of Chinese classical academy with the elegant white stubs, granite podium, white marble handrails and bronze-colored window frames.
